The Sample Timber Sale Contract contains a number of options; therefore you will need to select the choices that are appropriate for your harvest. The list of contract terms is not meant to be exhaustive or necessarily applicable to every situation. In some cases you may choose to add additional provisions. In others you might want to strike, language that you and the Purchaser agree is unnecessary. Work with your attorney and professional forester in drafting your contract.
Contract provisions will affect the bids that timber purchasers will offer you. A more stringent contract may result in fewer bidders and, potentially, lower bids. A contract will also spell out remedies in the event of a dispute.
